Theory of Fundamental Interactions

Specific mission

The  research interests of our section are mainly focussed on the investigation of  the origin and possible unification of the fundamental interactions within the context of supergravity, in relation to superstring theory.

Main research topics

  • Study of black hole solutions in supergravity and superstring theories;
  • Construction of (gauged-) supergravity models describing non-perturbative vacua of superstring/M-theory and their application to a unified description of the four fundamental interactions and to cosmological model building;
  • Investigation of more general formulations of supersymmetric models: inclusion of boundaries in space-time, Born-Infeld theories;
  • Development and application of new group-theoretical techniques to the study of supersymmetric theories and their solutions;

Main partnerships

  • CERN, Geneva (Switzerland)
  • Sezione INFN, Turin, Italy
  • ENS de Lyon (France);
  • Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics-JINR, Dubna (Russia);
