Supercritical Fluids

Specific mission

The aim of this section is to fulfill the theoretical and experimental investigation that are useful to develop new processes of industrial interest involving the use of supercritical fluids, with particular attention to the food and pharmaceutical sectors and the synthesis of new materials. 

Main research Topics

  • supercritical impregnation processes of organic compounds in solid matrices with applications mainly concerning the pharmaceutical sector;
  • supercritical extraction processes of contaminants or functional compounds from solid matrices with applications mainly concerning the food sector;
  • experimental investigation of phase equilibria and thermodynamic modeling;
  • synthesis and property characterization of aerogels obtained through supercritical drying.
