Quantum Phases and Dynamics of Bosonic Lattice systems

Specific mission

Dynamical properties of bosonic lattice systems characterized by strongly nonlinear interactions. Quantum phases of ultracold atomic mixtures in lattices with complex interactions and geometries.


Main research topics

The rich phenomenology of bosonic fluids formed by one or more atomic components and in the presence of trapping potentials is investigated. This exhibits instability effects, macroscopic quantum oscillations, transitions to localized states and supercurrents. Special attention is devoted to dynamical phase transitions at the crossover between classical and quantum regimes. Study of miscibility, entanglement properties and non-zero temperature effects in the quantum phases of bosonic and fermionic mixtures characterized by space separation.
