Seminar "Accelerating Formulation Development with Computational Methods"
In the framework of Erasmus Mundus “Multiphase”, DiSAT promotes an Application Seminar titled "Accelerating Formulation Development with Computational Methods" that will take place in Aula A1 on May the 27th at 11.30 a.m.
The seminar will feature with the presence of Giuliana Giunta – BASF.
In a fast-paced economy, rapid development of fine-tuned formulations is crucial. BASF leverages digital technologies to accelerate the development process, supporting customers and partners. Our team uses computational methods to discover and optimize formulations, aiming to reduce experiments and iteration cycles. Using BASF’s Quriosity super-computer and collaborating with experimental partners, we accelerate discovery by screening formulations, identifying promising candidates, understanding microscopic interactions, and providing insights into mechanisms of action. Giuliana Giunta will present an overview on how we use atomistic and coarse-grained modelling to support the development of novel formulations in the home care, agriculture, and oil chemistry sectors. It will be shown how these methods can be applied to study complex laundry formulations to determine washing performances, screen over diƯerent ingredients to improve the loading and emulsification behaviour of crop care formulations, and guide through the selection of different viscosity index improvers in the automotive sector.
