Research topics Her main research interests are surface modification and characterization of biomaterials. She has documented experience on chemical treatments of titanium and its alloys (she is co-author of a patent on this topic), surface modifications with physical treatments (machining, electron beam and laser structuring) and surface functionalization (grafting of numerous natural molecules such as polyphenols and keratin). She is active also in the field of surface characterization of biomaterials by means of Scanning Electron Microscopy equipped with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), confocal microscopy, contact profiler measurements, wettability measurements, zeta potential measurements and development of customized tests for the evaluation of surface reactivity and stability.
