Seminar "Clostridium in biorefineries: From waste to valuable bio-based chemicals"
DiSAT is glad to invite you at the seminar "Clostridium in biorefineries: From waste to valuable bio-based chemicals" planned in Sala Denina on Monday the 21st of July.
The Seminar will be held by prof. German Aroca from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (Chile).
Professor Germán Aroca Arcaya is a distinguished researcher and academic in the field of biochemical engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Reading (UK) and serves as Full Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), Chile, where he also directs the School of Biochemical Engineering.
His research focuses on biofiltration of gases, second-generation biofuels, and the modeling and design of sustainable biorefineries. Over his career, Professor Aroca has led numerous national and international research projects, particularly in air purification technologies and bioprocess optimization. One of his most recognized innovations is a bio-purifier for indoor air, which earned him the prestigious Ramón Salas Edwards Award from the Chilean Institute of Engineers in 2018.
He has authored a wide range of scientific publications and is known for integrating experimental research with systems modeling and sustainability analysis. His work has made significant contributions to the development of environmentally friendly technologies, especially in the treatment of gaseous pollutants and the valorization of biomass.
