Electron microscopy preparation lab

The electron microscopy preparation lab of DISAT has been established to provide users with the most common instrumentation to prepare solid bulk samples for electron microscopy. The lab is equipped with instrumentation for precision cutting of bulk materials and its mechanical thinning down to few tens of micrometers. It has moreover an ion milling station (produced by Technoorg) to perform the final thinning of solid hard samples to a thickness which is compatible with TEM analysis. The lab provides also users with sputter coaters to precisely coat samples with different metals (Pt, Au and Cr) to make non-conductive samples usable in SEM microscopy.
