The Carbon Materials Synthesis and Characterization Laboratory specializes in the production and first analysis of carbon-based materials, with a focus on biochar derived from biomass. Facility included pyrolysis horizontal and vertical ovens equipped with inert gases inflow for advanced biomass pyrolysis processes. Researchers in the laboratory meticulously characterize the physical, chemical, and structural properties of the resulting biochar using advanced analytical tools, in collaborations with other laboratories, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy.
