TEST-SQUAD- Transport, Electronic Spectroscopy and Theory in Superconducting, Quantum and low-Dimensional materials
Specific mission
Study of the coupling mechanism in unconventional superconductors through a joint experimental/theoretical approach. Study of innovative two-dimensional (2D) materials and modulation of their properties by means of electric field effect. Intercalation of materials with ions (hydrogen and alkali metals) and organic molecules by means of ionic gating, and their characterization. Analysis of the morphological, electrical, thermal, and infrared properties of materials by means of scanning probe microscopy.
Main research topics
- Experimental study and characterization of unconventional superconductors through measurements of point-contact spectroscopy, AC susceptibility and electric transport.
- Theoretical study of unconventional superconductivity within the Eliashberg theory.
- Study of the electric field effect (induced via the ionic gating technique) on metals, superconductors, and layered/2D materials.
- Insertion of hydrogen, alkali metal ions or organic molecules in various materials (mainly metals and 2D materials) by means of ionic gating, and study of the relevant effects on the electrical and electronic properties.
- Surface characterization of materials at the micro- and nano-scale by means of scanning probe microscopy.
