Institute of Chemical Engineering

The Institute of Chemical Engineering seeks to develop innovative science and technology in different fields of Chemical and Process Engineering, including chemical and biochemical reactor engineering, textile engineering, separations, process control, food and pharmaceutical engineering, process safety and reliability. The Institute also promotes studies for sustainable development, aiming at devising new processes with reduced resource consumption and environmental impact.
Due to the variety of the investigated systems, different experimental and theoretical methods are used, ranging from large scale macroscopic approaches for chemical process or environmental analysis, to highly detailed small scale methods for the fundamentals of mass transfer and fluid dynamics, and finally to microscale investigations to characterize surface effects or chemical reactions.
